Gung Hay Fat Choy & Gōngxǐ Fācái!

As far as I can tell, Duluth doesn’t have a huge Chinese or Asian population (1.1% in the 2000 census, 1.5% as of 2012), but as a half-Chinese fella, I wrote my mom and asked her to share a New Years message with Duluth.

恭喜發財

Best Wishes for a Prosperous, Joyful and Healthy New Year!

Gung Hay Fat Choy! (Cantonese!)  Gōngxǐ Fācái! (Mandarin!)

祝2012 龍年吉祥

Wishing you good luck in the auspicious Year of the Dragon!

Also, per her instructions, “…cook up a pan of noodles for long life, have a chicken (substitute) for abundant creativity and ideas, something sweet for a sweet countenance, and offer a toast to welcome the year of the dragon.”

Thanks Ma-J.
